St John bosco college
This large interior mural was commissioned by St. John Bosco College for their Arts and Technology Learning Centre. The client’s brief requested a modern portrait of one of their school’s patron saints, St. Dominic Savio.
As Savio lived before the advent of photography, there was little visual reference to work from, save a few historical paintings and artist’s impressions of Savio’s appearance. Taking a modern spin on this tradition, the reference used was derived through the use of modern algorithm-driven image generation software. Using a series of inputs, the historical likeness of Savio was recreated using entirely digital means, then hand-painted on the wall.
